May 20 2026 - Toronto, Ontario
Last Wednesday, Californian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Claire Rosinkranz brought the My Lover Tour to the Mod Club in Toronto for a fun night filled with feel-good music and dancing. After releasing her sophomore album, My Lover, on February 17th of this year, and coming off a European run supporting Alex Warren, the My Lover Tour kicked off on May 12th and continues until June 10th in Denver, Colorado.
Opening the night was singer-songwriter Stevie Bill. Her genre-blurring music draws from old classics, folk, and rock with pop and R&B vocals. She carries a cool and confident energy about her, and delivered a solid pop-rock set to excited fans who were already familiar with her tracks. Her mic stand was adorned with roses, and she gifted them to a fan who had recently gone through a break-up, thanking her for still coming out to the show. She also nailed a cover of “Purple Rain” by Prince that had the crowd swaying and singing along. By the time she closed out her set with her super catchy alt-pop tune “Hahaha,” the crowd was dancing along and fully warmed up.
When Claire skipped out onto the stage, the crowd immediately lit up. She opened her set with “Lucy,” barefoot and dancing around the stage, Claire brought a light and free-spirited energy which was infectious. Her music is classic feel-good indie pop, and it was impossible not to smile and move along. During “Kiss,” she ran across the front of the stage, reaching into the audience and handing out signed postcards to a couple of lucky fans, who were ecstatic after receiving one.
At several points throughout the set, her album cover art appeared behind her, a gorgeous blurred shot of Claire on horseback. Her set included songs from My Lover, including “I Wanna Be In Love So Bad,” “Crazy Bitch Song,” and “Dancer.” She even treated fans to a new unreleased song titled “Allergic,” – an upbeat pop track with a heavy beat, perfect for dancing.
Claire spoke about her struggles with chronic illness, which prevented her from touring for two years, and both she and her fans were grateful and appreciative that this tour was able to happen. She expressed, “It was impossible to feel really understood in my experience, so I love writing because music can explain something that not only words can.” And introduced her song “Chronic” as a song she wrote to help her feel understood in her chronic illness, and hopes it can speak to anyone who has gone through it too.
Closing her set on a high note with her 2020 hit “Backyard Boy” and “City” off of My Lover, the good vibes which Claire imbued into the audience throughout the show poured back out into the cool night air of the city. The My Lover Tour picks back up in Chicago next week – check out the rest of the dates on the official website.
