The crowd inside Théâtre Beanfield was reminiscent of a fairytale on Thursday evening. Flowy skirts and floral dresses trickled into the venue, ready to enter the enchanted world of Holly Humberstone’s new album, Cruel World, released April 10 2026. After a hypnotizing performance by opener Diva Smith, Holly stepped onto the stage through painted floral bushes and flower props, grinning as she waved to the crowd. Wearing a white dress and holding an acoustic guitar, she fit right into the stage’s dreamy atmosphere.
Under purple and pink lights, she sang about love, yearning, growth and everything in between. Her vulnerable lyrics flooded the room as the audience swayed to tracks from her new album like “To Love Somebody” and the title track, “Cruel World.” As the melancholic and bittersweet guitar of “Kissing in Swimming Pools” resonated across the venue, flashlights slowly began to illuminate the venue while a blue haze washed over the stage.
One of the most intimate performances of the night came during the mesmerizing performance of “Deep End.” There’s an authenticity to Holly’s voice, where you can truly feel that she means every world she sings. As she sang the lyrics, “I’ll be your medicine if you let me / Give you reason to get out of bed,” vulnerability bled through dreamy vocals, and the crowd to was connecting deeply with her
Holly’s performance proved that her dreamy pop songs are made for bigger stages, carrying so much depth and authenticity. When she sings, you can’t help but tie her lyrics to your own life and let the emotion completely wash over you.
