June 2 2026 – Hamilton, Ontario
Australian pop-punk rockers 5 Seconds of Summer, AKA everyone’s favourite “boyband”, made a stop at Hamilton’s newest venue, TD Coliseum, on their EVERYONE’S A STAR! World Tour. The band formed in 2011 and released their latest album, EVERYONE’S A STAR!, on November 14, 2025. This live show proved to be 5SOS’ most elaborate one yet, with an extravagant stage design, a fan-presented Boyband of the Year Award, and an impressively balanced setlist given the band’s lengthy discography.
The Band CAMINO opened the night and were a perfect fit for this tour – their upbeat pop rock tracks brought a feel-good energy to the venue. Their first song, “Baggy Jeans,” and “Afterthought” were standouts of their set.
Something different about this tour compared to previous 5SOS shows is that it has a major storyline carried throughout. The show is (supposedly) the band’s final show as the biggest boyband in the world, and follows their peak, fall, breakup, rise, and reflects on their beginnings through a series of skits and clips for each act. Opening the show with “NOT OK,” the band “arrives” to the show squished into a limo, singing the first verse inside, and then the four bandmates – Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin – rise out from the top of the limo set piece on stage, with Ashton taking his spot on the drums on on top of the car. The set continued with “No. 1 Obsession,” and “Teeth,” with a frenzy of excitement and chaos in the crowd and on the stage. Star-shaped confetti bursts, flashy visuals, light-up wristbands, and fans jumping up and down to the music from every seat in the house.
The catwalk of the stage forms a semi-circle which encases a general admission pit of its own, packed with fans. Throughout the set, all of the band members move around the stage and perform on the catwalk and the main stage. This allowed for plenty of fan interaction, including one fan announcing the fan-voted secret song (“Start Over”) and another joining them on stage to present the Best Boyband of the Year Award. They also made sure to let everyone know they were giving the people what they wanted with their setlist. Performing a blend of songs through all stages of their discography, including “Bad Omens,” “More,” “No Shame,” “Waste The Night,” and “English Love Affair,” 5SOS crafted a setlist that included popular songs and deep cuts that was sure to satisfy anyone in the building.
Of course, it’s not a 5SOS show without the nostalgic tracks “Amnesia” and “She Looks So Perfect.” During the former, the venue lit up with flashlights, creating a sea of stars as the band all stood on the catwalk to perform the song acoustically. And during the latter, giant beach balls (decorated with stars) were brought out into the crowd to be thrown around and created absolute chaos in the best way possible. Each member also performed their own solo songs, letting each member take the spotlight for a brief moment.
5SOS are loved for their humour and their chemistry with one another, which obviously came through in the show. They shared inside jokes with fans throughout their set and during their ‘Guide to Becoming A Star In Hamilton’ PowerPoint presentation. They even opened their encore to “Everyone’s A Star,” by walking through the crowd and greeting everyone in the aisle, making everyone feel like a star before returning to the stage and finishing off the night with their hit “Youngblood.”
The EVERYONE’S A STAR! Tour feels as authentically 5SOS as it can get. They were endearingly chaotic as usual, the show itself was extremely polished and tight, and the crowd couldn’t get enough of their incredible music. The EVERYONE’S A STAR! World Tour is continuing through the end of 2026. Check out where you can see them here.
