The Moss Electrifies Cat’s Cradle on their 2026 Spring Tour

On Monday night (April 20, 2026) alt/indie rockers The Moss shook the house at Carrboro’s Cat’s Cradle on their Spring Tour supporting their upcoming album Big Blue Moon debuting tomorrow, April 24, 2026. The band delivered the kind of high-energy performance that has become their signature, sending fans into a frenzy as soon as they took the stage.

The band opened the show with one of their most popular tracks, “Chaparral” immediately igniting the crowd. They played some of their recent tracks like “Darkness” from their 2025 EP Free Ride, and their 2026 single “Another Way to Waste Time.” After running through fan favorites, The Moss gave their fans a sneak peek to their new album with some never-before heard songs including “Devil’s Lettuce“, “Canyon“, and “How You Love“.  Their new tracks lean further into their surf-rock sound while still maintaining their indie-rock roots, and the response from the crowd made it clear that this new direction will be a huge success for the band.

Their electric performance never failed to lose momentum. With bass lines thumping, guitars riffing, and the band feeling the music from head to toe, it was an unforgettable set to say the least. Frontman Tyke James kept the crowd on their toes the whole night, never letting them know his next move. He spent a large percentage of the show jumping on and off of set pieces, even launching himself onto the ceiling at one point to serenade the crowd from above during “Insomnia.”

This was most definitely a special show for North Carolinians, especially so close to  the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s campus with multiple band members wearing the University’s merchandise, and with James stating that North Carolina was the band’s “favorite state to play on the east coast.” Towards the end of the set a lonesome Tyke played an acoustic version of James Taylor’s “In My Mind I’m Going to Carolina” which was an enormous hit with the college students and UNC alumni in the crowd. But knowing this band, they couldn’t close out the night with anything but a bang. The band closed their incredible set with their 2020 single “Dog Valley” where lead singer Tyke James signaled for the crowd to move out of the way and proceeded to fly off the stage into the pit for some memorable crowd interaction. Even as the venue cleared out, the infectious atmosphere elicited by The Moss’s performance remained.
